DRUP4AL

DRUP4AL - pronounced "Drup for All" - is an independent non-profit organization with the mission of promoting Drupal in Africa, Asia, Australia, and America Latina. We want to expand Drupal to new horizons and foster new opportunities in places where it's most needed! We welcome event organizers, companies, and individuals interested in helping accomplish this mission. Please join us and participate!

F.A.Q.

1. How does it work?

  • DrupalCamp organizers from Africa, Asia, Australia, and America Latina will be able to find Sponsors from all over the world.
  • Companies interested in sponsoring these DrupalCamps will be able to get in touch with organizers.

2. We are organizing a DrupalCamp in North America / Europe. Can we participate?

Certainly! DRUP4AL is open for all. There are only two conditions:

  • Help promote Drupal in Africa, Asia, Australia, and America Latina;
  • Be socially responsible in how resources are being spent.

Examples of acceptable applications:

  • We'll be donating 10% of all sponsorships we collect to help organize a DrupalCamp in Africa;
  • We'll invite one DrupalCamp organizer from each continent so that they can learn more and be able hold a DrupalCamp of their own where they live.

3. Is DRUP4AL affiliated with the Drupal Association?

No. We are an independent organization, although we hope that our actions will influence the Drupal Association and help them see the importance of Africa, Asia, Australia, and America Latina.

4. What is DRUP4AL's business model? Do event organizers or sponsors have to pay something to DRUP4AL?

DRUP4AL is run on a voluntary basis. Event organizers and sponsors do not have to pay anything. However, to help with our expenses, we do accept donations from both event organizers and sponsors with whatever value they feel is appropriate.

5. Why should we promote Drupal in Africa, Asia, Australia, or America Latina? Is Drupal mature enough in these places to deserve our attention?

This is a classic chicken-and-egg problem. The more we concentrate our attention in promoting Drupal in North America and Europe, the bigger will the gap get between Drupal adoption in North America and Europe when compared to the rest of the world. Also, there is a tendency for undervaluing the importance of Africa, Asia, Australia, and America Latina. The reality is that, despite the challenges, there are huge markets in these regions. For example, we have Brazil, Russia, India, and China. Furthermore, and most importantly, it's a matter of social responsibility promoting Drupal in these regions, since these are the regions where Drupal has the biggest potential for truly changing people's lives and making the world a better place.
